We are pleased to share the news that the EPA has selected Kalamazoo County, Southcentral Michigan Planning Council to receive Brownfields Grants totaling $900,000. Kalamazoo County will receive $300,000 and the Southcentral Michigan Planning Council will receive $600,000 in Brownfields funding through its Multipurpose, Assessment and Cleanup (MAC) Grants. These grants will help both organizations investigate the environmental condition of abandoned industrial and commercial properties that have been targeted for redevelopment. Gary Barton is the vice-chair of the Kalamazoo County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority and the treasurer of the Kalamazoo County Economic Development Corporation.
